Selenicereus megalanthus is a species of cactus related to the genus Hylocereus that is native to South America. It is grown for its yellow fruit and impressive flowers. Commonly known as yellow dragon fruit or yellow pitahaya, the fruit of Selenicereus megalanthus bear thorns, unlike Hylocereues undatus, which drop off as the fruit ripes. Selenicereus megalanthus blooms from June to October and should be kept above 50°F in the winter. It can be grown in semi-shade but does best in full sunlight with adequate moisture.
