A succulent in the Aizoaceae family, Sceletium tortuosum is native to South Africa. Known as kanna or kougoed, Sceletium tortuosum has a deep history of traditional use in its native habitat. Fleshy leaves occur in pairs with persistent leaf vein skeletons remaining on the stems. Sceletium tortuosum has attractive flowers with threadlike petals that are typically white with yellow centers but can vary in color. Sceletium tortuosum is drought tolerant. Allow soil to dry between waterings, and water sparingly as root growth is established. Sceletium tortuosum prefers full sun and is susceptible to over-watering and cold.
